When and where are the Tryouts?
The Tryout Schedule page can answer the when and where. If you need directions or a map, they can be found on the Field Directions page.
Are there any fees for participating in the tryouts?
There is a $25 fee for participating in the tryouts if the player registers on-line. A $40 fee will be charged to those players who don't register on-line and who register at the field instead. Please note that the tryout fee helps to offset the cost of the tryouts, and includes a numbered tryout participant t-shirt.
How do I know the age group for my son or daughter?
Your child's age group (e.g U10 = Under 10) is determined by his/her birthdate. As an example, players born on or after August 1, 2001 qualify to play U10 during the Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 seasons. The birth date ranges are also listed on the Tryout Schedule page. To continue with the example above, a player born July 31, 2001 would qualify to play U11 and not U10.
My child has an August birthdate. Can they play with their classmates?
Players with August birthdates have the opportunity to choose whether to play with their grade or with their age group (based on date ranges provided by the Illinois State Soccer Association).
If my son or daughter has been playing "up a year", which tryout session should he/she attend?
All players should tryout with their respective age group, unless told otherwise by our Director of Coaching (Chad) in advance of the tryouts. The Club will take into account skills and experience when making the decision to slot players on teams. Our goal is to place all players on the most appropriate roster - based on their development as a player.
What do I do if I think my child is good enough to play "up a year"?
The Club will make the decision about which team roster to offer a player a slot on, based on skills and experience. Players/families cannot tryout for a roster slot within an older age group without the permission of our Director of Coaching. In most cases, the answer will be for players to tryout with their own age group.
Do I have a choice to only attend one Tryout Session?
Players should attend both tryout sessions for their age group. The on-field evaluations will be performed by our Director of Coaching (Chad), our other Club trainers, plus we try to also have independent evaluator(s) too. We want to give the players every opportunity to demonstrate their skills and we want the evaluations to be as objective as possible. As a result, it’s in each child’s best interest to attend both tryout sessions for his/her age group.
What happens if I can only attend one Tryout Session?
We recognize that there are some unavoidable conflicts and we will do our best to be fair to all players involved. Players that can only attend one Tryout Session will be evaluated based on that one session.

When is Club Registration and what do I need to do?

When are games played?
Boys teams typically play on Saturday afternoons while girls teams play on Sundays. One or two weeknight games are sometimes scheduled by the leagues, and makeup games could also be scheduled during the week.
How often do teams practice?
All teams practice twice a week for 1½ hours per practice session. Fields are allocated to the club and we try to find a convenient time and location for teams to practice.
How often must a player attend practice?
Expectations are that players attend all practice sessions.
Where are games played?
Home games are played at fields located within the Deerfield community. Most often our games are played at the Brickyards, Clavey Park, Woodland Park or Jewett Park. Directions to all fields can be found within the Field Directions section of our site.
What fees are there?
The Pegasus Soccer Club (a not-for-profit organization) provides traveling soccer programs for players in Deerfield and surrounding communities.
For the 2011-2012 season, the per-player fee is $1,575 for U8 to U14 players. This fee includes a pre-season camp, fall & spring league play, two practices per week, three tournaments during the year, November/December (supplemental) training, indoor league play [or micro-league play plus an extra practice session for our youngest, most inexperienced players] and Monday Skills in the Fall and Spring. It does not include the cost of a uniform (anticipated at $140 again this year).
The per player fee for High School age players will be $795. This fee includes fall or spring league play, two practices per week, one tournament, indoor league play and one indoor practice per week during the winter season. It does not include the cost of a uniform (anticipated at $140 again this year).
Keep in mind that our Club Administrator and Operating Committee are all volunteer positions as well as other committees and parents who help out at events such as tryouts and registration. This is what helps keep our fees lower, we believe, than most surrounding clubs. It also doesn’t hurt that we are truly a not-for-profit organization.
Can I pay in installments?
For U8 to U14 players for the 2010-2011 season, installments will be offered as follows:
A $60 administrative fee will be added to the $1,575 total if you choose not to pay in full at the Club Registration on June 6th. A $500 deposit plus the $140 uniform fee is due at Club Registration.
Remaining balance will be due in 3 equal payments on August 31, October 31, and December 31.
For High School age players for the 2010-2011 season, installments will be offered as follows:
A $20 administrative fee will be added to the $795 total if you choose not to pay in full at the Club Registration on June 6th. A $500 deposit plus the $140 uniform fee is due at Club Registration. The remaining balance will be due by October 31st.
What do I do if I can't afford to pay the fee?
The Pegasus Soccer Club strives to keep soccer affordable and wishes to reduce the economic barriers of playing soccer. As such, as long as funds are available, Pegasus will make financial aid, in the form of a scholarship, available to deserving players and their families. If you find yourself in a difficult financial situation, please contact Lou Gantz (our accountant) to work something out. His e-mail address is LouGantz@PegasusSoccerClub.org, and all discussions on the subject will be kept confidential.
